Sam blinked at the silver-foil scroll that was handed him, upon which, in hieroglyph, snake figures danced.	Сэм уставился на врученный ему свиток из тонкого серебряного листа, по поверхности которого извивались змейки иероглифов.
"It is the land grant to all of the territory from the silver mountains to the blue hills, from the dead salt sea there to the distant valleys of moonstone and emerald," said the Leader.	- Это дарственная на все земли от серебряных гор до голубых холмов, от мертвого моря до далеких долин, где лунный камень и изумруды, - сказал Глава.
"M-mine?" said Sam, incredulous.	- Все м-мое? - пробормотал Сэм, не веря своим ушам.
"Yours."	- Ваше.
"One hundred thousand miles of territory?"	- Сто тысяч квадратных миль?
"Yours."	- Ваши.
"Did you hear that, Elma?"	- Ты слышала, Эльма?
Elma was sitting on the ground, leaning against the aluminum hot-dog stand, eyes shut.	Эльма сидела на земле, прислонившись спиной к алюминиевой стене сосисочной; глаза ее были закрыты.
"But why, why - why are you giving me all this?" asked Sam, trying to look into the metal slots of the eyes.	- Но почему, с какой стати вы мне дарите все это?- спросил Сэм, пытаясь заглянуть в металлические прорези глаз.

The names were declared, the territories announced.	Вслух перечисляются названия, обозначения других земель.
"Why, that's half of Mars!	- Но это же половина Марса!
I own half of Mars!"	Я хозяин половины Марса!
Sam rattled the scrolls in his fists. He shook them at Elma, insane with laughing.	- Сэм стиснул гремучие свитки, тряс ими перед Эльмой, захлебываясь безумным смехом.
"Elma, did you hear?"	- Эльма, ты слышала?
"I heard," said Elma, looking at the sky.	- Слышала, - ответила Эльма, глядя на небо.
She seemed to be watching for something.	Казалось, она что-то разыскивает.
She was becoming a little more alert now.	Апатия мало-помалу оставляла ее.
"Thank you, oh, thank you," said Sam to the bronze mask.	- Спасибо, большое спасибо, - сказал Сэм бронзовой маске.
"Tonight is the night," said the mask.	- Это произойдет сегодня ночью, - ответила маска.

"I will be.	- Ладно.
