Each Other, One Another

552. Ni amas unu la alian (each other) (two persons).

Ni amas unu la aliajn(one another) (more than two).

Ni amas nin reciproke(reciprocally, mutually).

Ili ne parolis unu al la alia(to each other).

553. (a) La kverelo. Etelo: “Kial vi kaj Tom ne parolas unu al la alia nuntempe?” Doro: “Ni havis teruran (terrible) disputon pri la demando, kiu el ni pli amas la alian.”

(b) Ni ne povas aŭdi unu alian (aŭdi nin) paroli. Vi ne similas unu la alian. Kial vi portas la ĉapelojn unu de la alia?

(c) Stand near each other (unu apud la alia). Similarly: They are fighting one another. They are ready to die for each other. They fall one after another. Don’t complain about one another. Why stand in front of one another?

The «kiel» Family ( Manner )

554. -EL = “in … manner” (think of “elegant manner” or “Well-mannered.” Kiel= kiumaniere, etc.

• TIEL, in that way, thus, so, like that, by that means.

• IEL, in some (any) way, somehow or other, by some means.

• ĈIEL, in every way, in all sort of ways.

• NENIEL, in no way, nohow, not at all, no wise, by no means.
