AJN: TRANSLATION OF "ANY (WHATEVER)"

711. Sometimes any in English means not some (382), but any zvhatever. Thus : What willyou have ? Oh, anything (whatever). This any (whatever) is represented in Esperanto

(a) Usually by ajn after an i-word. Donu al mi ion ajn,

Give me anything (you like, it does not matter what). Venu iam ajn, Come at any time (you like). Kiu devas iri ? Iu ajn. Who is to go ? Anyone (whatever) (it doesrit matter who). (N.B. Two words, no hyphen.)

Sometimes by ajn after a k-word. Donu al mi kion ajn (short for ion, kion ajn vi volas). Venu kiam ajn (vi volas) ! This is the ordinary usage of Zamenhof.

Sometimes by a ĉ-word. Kiel ĉiu virino sciac, As any (=every) woman knows. Vi ĉiam bonvenas, You are welcome at any time.

Thus, Anyone can do that may be translated Iu ajn (or Kiu ajn, or Ĉiu) povas tion fari.

712. Drazv an oblong figure of 45 squares (5X9), zvrite the 45 correlatives from memory_y one in each square_f and translate. Use every tvord in a sentence.
