He crossed himself several times.	Он перекрестился несколько раз.
Sonia took up her shawl and put it over her head.	Соня схватила свой платок и накинула его на голову.
It was the green _drap de dames_ shawl of which Marmeladov had spoken, "the family shawl."	Это был зеленый драдедамовый платок, вероятно тот самый, про который упоминал тогда Мармеладов, "фамильный".
Raskolnikov thought of that looking at it, but he did not ask.	У Раскольникова мелькнула об этом мысль, но он не спросил.
He began to feel himself that he was certainly forgetting things and was disgustingly agitated.	Действительно, он уже сам стал чувствовать, что ужасно рассеян и как-то безобразно встревожен.
He was frightened at this.	Он испугался этого.
He was suddenly struck too by the thought that Sonia meant to go with him.	Его вдруг поразило и то, что Соня хочет уйти вместе с ним.
"What are you doing?	- Что ты!
Where are you going?	Ты куда?
Stay here, stay!	Оставайся, оставайся!
I'll go alone," he cried in cowardly vexation, and almost resentful, he moved towards the door.	Я один, - вскричал он в малодушной досаде и, почти озлобившись, пошел к дверям.
"What's the use of going in procession?" he muttered going out.	- И к чему тут целая свита! - бормотал он, выходя.
Sonia remained standing in the middle of the room.	Соня осталась среди комнаты.
He had not even said good-bye to her; he had forgotten her. A poignant and rebellious doubt surged in his heart.	Он даже и не простился с ней, он уже забыл о ней; одно язвительное и бунтующее сомнение вскипело в душе его.
"Was it right, was it right, all this?" he thought again as he went down the stairs. "Couldn't he stop and retract it all... and not go?"	"Да так ли, так ли все это? - опять-таки подумал он, сходя с лестницы, - неужели нельзя еще остановиться и опять все переправить... и не ходить?"
But still he went.	Но он все-таки шел.
He felt suddenly once for all that he mustn't ask himself questions.	Он вдруг почувствовал окончательно, что нечего себе задавать вопросы.
As he turned into the street he remembered that he had not said good-bye to Sonia, that he had left her in the middle of the room in her green shawl, not daring to stir after he had shouted at her, and he stopped short for a moment.	Выйдя на улицу, он вспомнил, что не простился с Соней, что она осталась среди комнаты, в своем зеленом платке, не смея шевельнуться от его окрика, и приостановился на миг.
At the same instant, another thought dawned upon him, as though it had been lying in wait to strike him then.	В то же мгновение вдруг одна мысль ярко озарила его, - точно ждала, чтобы поразить его окончательно.
"Why, with what object did I go to her just now?	"Ну для чего, ну зачем я приходил к ней теперь?
I told her--on business; on what business?	Я ей сказал: за делом; за каким же делом?
